How I became the musician I am today

My Career

Idania Hernández Becerra, began her musical career with only 6 years in Cienfuegos -Cuba, under the direction of Maestro Gonzalo Bermúdez in the musical project “Ismaelillo” with which she developed for more than 10 years.

She jointly studied at the “Benny Moré” Provincial School of Art and the National Center for the Overcoming of Culture in his hometown, graduating from Professional Medium Level in Piano, Flute and Percussion.

Graduated from Professional Vocational Level at the “Mariana de Gonitch” National Singing Academy in Havana -Cuba directed by Maestro Hugo Oslé.

Graduated in Social Communication from the University of Cienfuegos-Cuba “Carlos Rafael Rodríguez”

She has participated in different international and national music festivals such as in Cuba, in France, Ecuador, Mexico, Spain and the USA.

Winner of National and International Competitions such as :

  • Grand Prix Singing Absolute “Mariana de Gonitch” 2008.
  • Second Place in the National Competition for the interpretation of Boleros “Elena Bourke” Held at Gato Tuerto de la Habana-2008
  • Finalist of the National Creation Competition “Ojalá” led by the Composer Silvio Rodríguez-2010.
  • Winner of the 1st Percussion Award “Guillermo Barreto in Memorian” in the Pailas category awarded by the National Center for Popular Music held at the Karl Marx Theater in Havana-Cuba-2015
  • Judge on singing contest “Estrella de La Gran Plaza” 2022 and 2023.
